Recycling
Single Stream Recycling. We have recycling for paper, cardboard, glass and plastic. REMOVE all bottle caps and empty bottles/rinse if they contained anything beside water. We have receptacles in the office and at both ends inside the building.
Bottle Caps. Every 700 pounds yields a picnic table; every 350 pounds yields a park bench. Hard plastics cannot be accepted by local recycling programs, and many end up in landfills. Deposit box in lobby.
Athletic Shoes. In the last 18 months we have collected 2,200 pairs of shoes and generated $1,300 for www.siteaw.org. Tie pairs together and bring to the church library or place them in the Rubbermaid container on the parking lot side of our building.
Styrofoam. We take unlabeled, clean white Styrofoam and Styrofoam egg cartons to toxic waste recycling. This is a convenience for members – we collect it and take it together so you don’t have to make a special trip out there. Box in utility room.
Metals. We collected over 5 tons/10,000 pounds of metals in the past 12 months. Call the office for pickup of larger items. Remove lids and labels and wash tin cans; place tin or aluminum cans into the Rubbermaid container on the parking lot side of our building.
Batteries. Collection box in lobby.
